Privacy
Short version: your music and your listening stay on your PC. There's no account, no ads and no tracking.
The app
Spince plays music files from folders on your PC. Your library, likes, playlists and what you play are stored on your PC only. There is no Spince account and no Spince server that receives them.
To fill in what your files are missing, Spince looks things up online with the song, album or artist name:
- Covers and song info from Deezer and Apple's iTunes Search
- Artist photos and bios from MusicBrainz, Wikidata, Wikipedia and fanart.tv
- Lyrics from LRCLIB
- Updates: the app checks GitHub for a newer version
Those services see the request (and your IP address, like any website you visit) under their own privacy policies. You can turn off artwork and info lookups in Settings; lyrics are looked up when a song plays. Optional features you turn on, like getting songs you don't have, search online the same way.
Your phone and other devices
The phone app talks only to Spince on your own PC. Sharing on your Wi-Fi stays on your home network and can't be reached from the internet.
This website
No cookies, no analytics scripts and no ads. When you download Spince we count it, by platform and version only, so we know which versions are in use. The site runs on Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs under its own privacy policy.
